At the beginning, I just wanted to make a board game that would be more fun for my kid. Regular chess is smart, but for children it can feel very abstract. Like, why does a castle move around like a car on a highway? Why is the Queen so powerful, while the King looks kind of clumsy? The rules are impressive, but not intuitive.
So, I thought—what if there was a game you could really see and feel? With soldiers, heroes, teamwork, and even sacrifice. Something that, just by playing, a kid can naturally realize one thing: you can’t win everything on your own. Then, while playing with my child and watching him grow, I started to notice something in everyday life—in patience, in failure, in making choices, in waiting. There was this quiet, real presence that always seemed to be there, even in the most ordinary moments.
I wasn’t trying to make a “religious game”. It just kind of happened. Some things became so clear that it was hard to ignore them. This faith didn’t come from rules or lectures. This Spirit of Faith showed up slowly—through the logic behind the rules, the stories and history behind the ideas, and even from the way the world itself is put together. And before I knew it, it was right in front of me. Like the Bible puts it:
“For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”— Romans 1:20
Through a child’s eyes, through those quiet nudges of conscience, and through all those moments of instinct and choice, God’s presence doesn’t feel distant at all. It feels clear, real, and hard to ignore. As this game slowly took shape, I was surprised to see how many rules, characters, and moments lined up so closely with words from the Bible: strength comes from being connected; those who are willing to make room for others often end up lifting them up; and what truly matters isn’t how beautifully you win, but who you choose to be when it really counts.
That’s why you’ll see quite a few Bible verses in this game. Not to lecture anyone, but because they genuinely speak to the heart—just as real life does. I hope you enjoy playing. And I also hope that, little by little, you come to see the goodness of God through the game.
What Jesus brought wasn’t a cold set of rules, but a place you can call home—a love that knows you, accepts you, and is willing to walk with you. You don’t need to understand everything right now. Just know this:
Jesus loves you. Not in some abstract way, but in a real, personal way—this love is flowing in every corner of the room, all the tiny deeds of your life, and even an ordinary thought of an ordinary moment from any ordinary one of God’s children.
